Given that you are now a gardener, not an individual growth driver, you need to build systems that reliably drive business impact.
Generally speaking, most product leaders use 3 levers:
- Strategy: this is all about a vision that’s rooted in your ICP and value proposition, has clear commercial goals, and which is supported by pillars of work which have resources allocated to them
- Execution: how do you align leaders behind your plan, how do you keep your teams accountable and reduce risk, and how do you ensure that plans are operationally viable
- People: how you design your org, roles and responsibilities, scale of the team, hiring capacity, performance management and morale
We’ll mostly be focusing on the people side in this course.

As a best practice we also recommend doing a product audit to identify bottlenecks, or choke points, and then prioritise key fixes.
It’s also a useful communication tool for teams. It shows you’ve identified and understood key issues, and longer term there’s a plan to work on them.
